May Ho (Maiv Hawj) is an ethnic Hmong woman born in 1998 in Mu Cang Chai, Yen Bai. Growing up, she was forced to live in government boarding schools and eventually ended up in Hanoi. In June 2020, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the Hanoi University of Home Affairs.
While studying in Hanoi, she began working for Chapa Express Tourism. It was during this time that she met Su Tan and was offered a job at Sapa O’Chau, a Hmong tourism social enterprise, just before the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
In early March 2021, in between the COVID-19 pandemic May met Tony Le Nguyen in Sapa while Tony was conducting life skills workshops for minorities’ youth and was invited by Tony to join The Drama as its administrator. She began writing with him for Art-town, Hanoi. Her first work, The New Jungle Book 2023, was co-written with Tony Le Nguyen. This was followed by The New Cats Musical 2023, Alice in Wonder Town 2024, and The New Aladdin 2025. All these new works, co-written and directed by Tony Le Nguyen, enjoyed highly successful seasons at Hanoi Youth Theatre.
